What's New in New Media?

Inga von Staden
Lecture
Module 1

Abstract

The new media have been the hype of the 90ties and are blamed for the crash in the year 2000. First viewed with great scepticism then rapidly adopted to be dropped again by the old media players, they have been on a roller coaster ride for the past decades. We will look at their origins, their uniqueness, the bubbles that burst and the gems that changed the media landscape. Finally we will look at what new media are to the average user today and how they may possibly evolve in the future.
